Our first guest speakers of the CEO year set the bar high! 🎤

We were excited to welcome Jefferson County CEO Board Chair Eric Black and Vice Chair Mark Black as they challenged our young entrepreneurs to think about one powerful word: VALUE.

Eric and Mark drew from their personal experiences and their experiences as small business owners to help students understand that value goes far beyond business. Value can be a noun, an adjective, or a verb, and how we choose to demonstrate it can make a difference in every area of our lives.

Throughout their CEO experience, our young entrepreneurs were challenged to consider how they can both show value and bring value by:

• Serving others
• Actively listening
• Going the extra mile
• Taking responsibility
• Respecting the time of others

Mark also shared a quote from Zig Ziglar that captured the message perfectly:

“You can have everything in life you want if you will just help enough other people get what they want.” — Zig Ziglar

CEO is about so much more than learning how to start a business. It’s about developing young people who understand the value they bring to a room, a team, a business, and their community, while also recognizing the importance of creating value for others.
