Guest Speaker: Darian Rottmann

This morning, our Johnson County CEO class had the pleasure of hearing from Darian Rottmann, who shared his expertise on sales—and yes, even a deep dive into vanilla!

Darian is a salesman with Lochhead Manufacturing Company, a four-generation, family-owned business based in St. Louis that was founded in 1918. He shared his career journey and what led him to his current role, along with why he enjoys working in sales.

A key takeaway from Darian’s presentation was the importance of building strong relationships with customers. He emphasized that trust and connection are the foundation of successful sales, no matter the product or industry.

Darian wrapped up his visit by introducing students to food science—what it is, how it impacts everyday products, and examples of careers within the field. It was a great look at how science, business, and sales intersect.

Thank you, Darian, for sharing your time and knowledge with our students!
