We also had the opportunity, recently, to visit McDonough Power Cooperative. We learned more about the cooperative model, how this one serves our region, and saw a safety demonstration. They talked about how they network with other coops, share ideas, and support each other when extra hands are needed after a big storm.
This visit was extra timely, with the recent storms that came through McDonough County. Knowing what the linemen have to do to restore power, and the risks they take when working, helps us appreciate their role in the community even more.
The importance of safety and returning home to family is a top priority for everyone that works in this dangerous line of work.
