On Friday, our class had the chance to visit Kappert Construction Homes and spend time with the new owners, Heather Nieves and Steve Eggers.
Kappert Construction Homes has been around since 1994, founded by Tim Kappert, and just this past January Heather and Steve stepped into ownership. Heather was a realtor before, and Steve worked as a construction supplies sales rep, so together they bring a unique mix of experiences to leading the company.
We started our visit in the operations office, where we got a behind-the-scenes look at how everything comes together. But the highlight of the day was walking through the beautiful spec home in Silver Creek Estates. We loved seeing all the thoughtful details, and it gave us a true sense of how much care and creativity goes into building a home.
One thing that stood out was how particular they are about the subcontractors they hire. Each home involves 20-25 subs, and Heather and Steve emphasized that trust and timing coordination are key. Every person on the team has to deliver quality and communicate well for the process to run smoothly.
Steve told us that his favorite moment is watching a family walk into their new home for the very first time—seeing their faces light up when the dream they’ve been waiting for is finally real. We could almost picture that moment, and it gave us a new appreciation for how meaningful his work is.
Heather shared something that touched us deeply. She explained that because the process is so detailed and personal, customers often become more like family. She walks beside them every step of the way, holding their hands through decisions, challenges, and milestones. To her, clear and constant communication isn’t just part of the job—it’s what builds the trust that turns a house into a forever home. ❤️
This visit helped us see that homebuilding isn’t only about wood, nails, and blueprints—it’s about people, relationships, and creating spaces where life unfolds.
A huge thank you to Heather and Steve for opening your doors to us, sharing your passion, and for supporting our class as a Badge Business Sponsor. We are so grateful!
