Next in our graduation spotlight series, let’s congratulate DJ Schmitz from Freeburg High School.

DJ will be attending Murray State University, where he plans to study Financial Planning.

When reflecting on his year in CEO, DJ shared:

“A skill I developed through CEO was learning how to be a good salesman. I never knew what it took to be good in sales, but it really boils down to interpersonal communication skills. Once I learned how to connect with people, the rest just followed.”

“One challenge I faced and learned from was becoming more disciplined in whatever task I had. I always had motivation, but when the motivation died off, discipline is what kept me going in this class. There were days when I was tired and I really didn’t want to show up, but I did anyway with a smile on my face. That’s a skill I’ll take with me for the rest of my life.”

One of the most rewarding parts of CEO is watching students develop life skills that will benefit them far beyond high school, and DJ’s growth in communication, discipline, and perseverance has been incredible to witness this year.

Congratulations, DJ. We are proud of you and excited to see all that your future holds.
